What say ye, the masses?

I made a small quilt top a couple months ago. I've been looking for the right edging, but the one(s) I bought, I'm just not so sure about. I won't let you know which that/those are, so that you can make an unbiased decision. I am leaning toward (a) certain fabric(s). Let's see if you agree.

So what say ye, the masses? Grouping #1, #2 or #3??? Help!

PS- If you click on the images, I've left them extremely large so you can get a better look at them....

I think I'll start doing my menu from Thursday through Wednesday. Our grocery ad comes out on a Wednesday. While I have plenty of food in the freezer, I always like to view the ad & see if there's something we'd rather add to the mix. Not to mention fresh produce is pretty much a weekly shop anyway. Desserts are almost always TBA, LOL.

My biggest harvest of the year

Don't laugh, ok. We have a 3 month growing season, and the temps at night didn't get above 42 until mid-July *sigh*

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

And then, I also got to pick these BEAUTIFUL specimens as well!!!

And my IMPATIENT self came in, cleaned, peeled, cooked & mashed those babies up. PURE NOMMINESS!!!

WOW!!!

I totally messed up my menu for the rest of the week. That's what happens when yu have 5 kids running amok, are trying to get your shopping list together, have had a rough week & are tired, LOL. So yes, we're having PB toast twice in one day & I don't usually do it, but I'm sure the kids will love it. I'll do better next week.... I promise.... I think.....

Amish Friendship Bread- Semi-TF

1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
2/3 c coconut oil

3 eggs
1 c rye flour
1 c buckwheat flour
1/2 c maple syrup
1/4 c mild honey
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking soda
1 1/2 t baking powder
1 t vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350ยบ. Grease 2 loaf pans well. In a large bowl whisk together all of your ingredients except flour. Add flour & whisk well. Pour batter into your prepared loaf pans & bake 45-50 minutes. Bread is finished when a toothpick or butter knife inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes in pans. Use an icing spatula to run around the edges of the bread to remove it from the pan & finish cooling on a cutting board or cooling rack.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 cup sugar, divided (I use unrefined sugar)
  • 1 cup whole milk

>>> In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 5-10 minutes. In a quart or half gallon jar (size will depend on how much you plan on adding on days 5 & 10), add flour, sugar, milk and yeast mix. Whisk well. Cover loosely. This is day 1 of the 10 day cycle. Leave loosely covered at room temperature.

Days 2, 3, 4- stir starter with a non-metal spoon

Day 5- stir in 1/4-1 cup each flour, sugar and milk (The measurement you use for each will be the same. For example, if you add 1/3 c milk, you will add 1/3 cup of flour & sugar as well)

Days 6, 7, 8, 9-
stir starter with a non-metal spoon

Day 10- stir in flour, sugar and milk, using the same proportions as mentioned on day 5.

Use 1 cup of starter to make your first batch of bread. You may share up to 2 cups with friends. Be sure you share this recipe and your favorite Amish Bread recipe. Store the remaining 1 cup starter in a container in the refrigerator, or begin the 10 days over again, starting with day 2.

Notes:

  • If you don't have anyone to share your starter with, you may freeze your starter in 1-cup portions. This can be used as your 1 cup of starter for a recipe or to begin a new 10-day process. The bread freezes very well if wrapped well.
  • Never use metal utensils, and never allow your starter to come in contact with metal items (when you are mixing batters for baking, you may use a metal bowl, but if your starter contacts metal, it can react).

It's going to be a busy week!

I don't know how much time I'll have to blog this next week. My wonderful Father Outlaw & his wife will be here tomorrow. They were supposed to come today but decided to stay another night in St Louis. We're looking forward to seeing them, as it's been just over a year, & we're accustomed to seeing them at least every 3-4 months.

Please pray for their journey- that it be safe & blessed.

And if I'm not back this next week, I'll see you the week after!!
